Making large batches of salsa requires a lot of chips to dip. The team at Hot Mama Salsa wanted a food processing equipment solution for salting a large quantity of chips to go with their world class salsa.

We designed and fabricated a rotary chip seasoner for this commercial kitchen. A rotary chip seasoner is a rotating drum that gently tumbles freshly cooked chips (like potato chips or tortilla chips) while salt is added. Seasoning sticks to all sides, so chips don’t end up with too much flavor in one spot and none in another. This helps keep taste consistent from batch to batch. It can season lots of chips quickly which makes it ideal for factories or large-scale chip production.

Hot Mama Salsa is a mainstay for Portland’s farmers markets and specialty grocery stores, their recent acquisition of an abandoned food production space enabled them to grow their production space for more automated food production. By repairing and revitalizing this facility, they've expanded to help small businesses through co-manufacturing that expands their own product lines and pursuits.
